Statistical Observation for Admitted Patients during The Years of 1970 to 1974 at Ped. Dept. Ewha Univ. Hosp.


Abstract
A observation was performed on 2405 children Pediatrics who were admitted to Ewha Hospital during the past 5 yrs. from Jan. 1970 to Dec. 1974 classifyinf by sex, age, season and disease.
The result were as follows;
1. In classification of the cases by sex 1461 cases (60.8%) were male and 944 cases (39.2%) were female and so M: ratio was 1.5: 1.
2. Age distribution showed, 692 cases (28.8%) were in the age group of 1 month to 2 yrs, 647 cases (26.9%) in the group of 2yrs. to 6 yrs. and 479 cases (19.9%) in the group of 4 months to 1 yr. and so 3/4 of all patients were under 6 yrs. of age.
3. Seasonal distribution of the cases showed, 646 cases (26.9%) appeared in summer (June-Aug.), 647 cases (26.9%) in Automn (Sept.-Nov.), 591 cases (24.2%) in spring (Mar. -May) and 521 cases (22.0%) in winter (Dec. -Feb.),
4. In classiflyieg the diseases, in6ectious disase showed in 843 cases (34.7%), respiratory tract disease in 522 cases (21.8%) and neonatal disease in 317 cases (13.7%).
5. Among infectious disease group, gastrointestinal disease was the most frequent, 354 cases (42.5 %) .
6. Among respiratory tract disease, pneumonia was the most frequent, 300 cases (57.5%).
7. Among neonatal disease, RDS and aspiration pneumonia were the most frequent, 107 cases (33.7%) except prematurity.
